It has been three weeks since Andres last heard from his sister Viviana. He arrives in México City and rushes to her apartment determined to learn her fate. When his sister’s beautifully provocative roommate Elsa opens the door without answers or concern his disappointment is tempered by the surge of his attraction for her. Elsa helps Andres to uncover the truth. Everything that Andres discovers points to Alex, a twenty-something film student, who is madly in love with Viviana and perhaps a very jealous lover. His mental state is more fragile than Andres’ and a killing spree driven by a grim obsession to taunt his victims by revealing clues to their fate is his only solace. Andres finds a most disturbing clue in Alex’s almost empty apartment: a plastic bag full of jigsaw puzzle pieces. Once Elsa puts the pieces together a message written on the back of the puzzle is revealed. A chill runs down Andres’ spine as he recognizes his sister’s panicked handwriting: “Help Me” Andres’ for years was tormented by nightmares that forced him to relive the moment he was powerless to save the woman he sent to the grave. It was his love that killed her, that drove him to stare at her, afraid he’d miss a moment of her beauty, her smile being the last thing he saw before he lost control of the car he drove. Unfortunately now, the nightmares are coming back. He senses, maybe more unconscious than consciously, that the traumatic event is being repeated: a woman he loves, in this case his sister, is in danger and he can’t do anything to save her. While looking for his sister, Andrés starts to feel again but the love he feels for Elsa is mixed with the guilt of feeling good again while his sister is missing. Opposing types of love and loyalty begin to war inside him. Once Andres puts the pieces of Viviana’s fate together, like
a JIGSAW PUZZLE, he discovers that Alex who is now dead was not the
killer or the lover. Andres discovers that Elsa the woman he is now
deeply in love with killed his sister in a lover’s quarrel. He,
for the first time, can control the destiny of a woman he loves. He
must decide whether to turn in his sister’s killer or allow himself
to love a woman for the first time since he robbed himself of the chance
so many years ago. |
